    Default Old Car at Bodie

Shot this at Bodie ghost town a few years back Bodie is one of the most photogenic ghost towns in the west. This car has been photographed by many and I enjoyed coming up with different comps of it. This was pp as a pseudo HDR since HDR was unheard of when photographed. I liked how the colors popped when converted.

Hi Dave, these old wrecks are a lot of fun to photograph and HDR can do great things with their rusty colors! I love everything about this except for the blue sky....it's so blue that it keeps pulling my eye away from the car. Maybe toning it down or cropping it away might make a difference for me.

    Hey Dave,
I've seen this one.....but not in this version. I think the colors in the car and grasses are great. I too am not fond of the sky.....maybe a color tweak....or just drop the rolling hill color up into it. I think it is worth tweaking as the rest turned out very nicely!

Dave, I like the composition and the treatment looks good. I agree w/ toning down the blue in the sky but I really love these type of images for HDR-I bet you have tons!!!:)

Dave, I really like the subject and comp. Would like to visit that area someday.:)
I agree the sky is a bit distracting, but I am just wishing the blue cast of the snow could closer match the tops of the white snow of the hill in the BG. Just my thoughts. I love these old cars.

Dave, I tried to desaturate the sky and surrounding snow before I commented. Didn't really like the result...
I really do like the original, I have a thing for these old rusted cars especially in HDR's...well done

Hi Dave, love it, but agree with Ken on the sky. Do you know what kind of car it is? Looks exactly like one that can be found in Ontario's Killarney Provincial Park. If it were mine I think I would clone out the dead tree/fence post to the left of car. Nice work!

Very nice, Dave. Love the subject and scene. The colors from the HDR look great, though I can't help but wonder how it would look in sepia. :) Well done!

Hi Christopher, Actually I did post a similar(more of a head on without the backround) in sepia a while ago. I like that effect also....

    Appreciate all the comments...

Hi Dave, I love Bodie - what a great place for photographers and artists! I like the pseudo HDR, it works well with this image. I think the sky could just use a little lightening on left half of the image and I might want to tone down the blue mid-tones in the snow and on the truck.
