    Default Purple Sandpiper Jacuzzi

I really like this shot, but I'm not sure the head works. Unlike some other types of birds, the eyes are set so much to the side that you can't really see them. Looking for opinions. Thx.

Paul, there's certainly a lot to like here. You've got a nice exposure and shutter speed, good color and action...but I think you're right that the HA is less than ideal. Gosh, a slight turn either way and you would have had a much stronger image. Still, I certainly wouldn't delete this - it's a great behavioral image with lots to love about it.

Did you by any chance consider a horizontal crop, taking some of the white water off the top? I find my eye going to the URC since that is the lightest area. I'm wondering if you cropped down closer to the head of that would keep my eye more centered on the bird. ???

Definitely a keeper. Like Julie I too would play with different compositions.

    Here's a more horizontal crop...

Great environmental shot, I like all the chaos bubbles and water around the bird. Your bird looks sharp with good feather detail too. Wish I could see more of the eye and a little less shadow on the left side of the face, however this is already good as it is. I like the horizontal crop more.

I love that water surrounding the bird. I would even consider a bit more off the top to highlight the fg water even more.

It is quite an amazing shot with how relaxed the bird looks with all that water action surrounding it.

Just a quick look to the side would have been tops.

Very well done and good for you to be in on the action.

This is a nice image, I like the more horizonal crop, just a slight head turn would have made it much improved, but still a nice action enviromental shot.

Like the repost - might take a bit off the right side to move the bird out of center. :)

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

To Dave who said the bird looked relaxed, I actually watch it get lifted up off the rock by the water. It gently set back down with no real flapping or panic. They truly are suited to their environment.

G'day Paul, what I like here is that you've got all this water action going on around the bird. It gives this image a sense of movement. Agree about the bird facing towards you, having the bird more parallel would've been better.
