    Default Sacred Ibis

I spent an enjoyable morning at a heronry nearby trying for Cattle Egret images in breeding plumage. The Ibis were nesting in the same heronry and frequently popped down in front of me for nesting material.

50D/EF500f4/f4.5@1/2000/iso640/EC +0.67. Cloned out a part of the branch that extended across the neck of the Ibis and applied NR to background.

    C&C allways welcome.

I like the color changes in the wing black, white, grey, read and gold. Good job removing the branch as I do not see any artifacts from that removal. BG looks good

Nice background adds dimension to the image. Like the wing position and stick, and my favorite thing is the red showing on the wings. Agree with the need for a little more sharpening on the head.

Love the wing position. Quick Mask + Contrast Mask on head plus a bit of bill clean-up and a crop to 3X2.

Hi Pieter, good forward wing position, and thats a fair size bit of timber he's carrying for his nest. Well exposed on both the whites and blacks, and Artie's job on the head work well.

I normally dislike posted pictures of this species due to the fact that details in the blacks are often lacking leaving the bird in some way void of character. You have done a good job in capturing the details and I really do like this Sacred Ibis image.

Thanks all for your feedback and comments, much appreciated.

Arthur thank you for taking the time to do a rework, as mentioned above it has improved the image a lot. I guess I will be reading up on the process as soon as ABP & ABP2 which I ordered recently arrive. Basically did you mask the head, invert and apply contrast ?

When I make a Quick Mask I switch the defaults so that I am painting the selection rather than the mask. A contrast mask is Unsharp Mask at 15/65/0. Everything that I did is in Digital Basics :)

Thanks for your order. Get to work studying!
