    Default Painted Rose

I started off with an in-camera blur of this rose from Longwood Gardens. I added a few ripples and softened the BG. Then I added a texture overlay to parts of the image and finished it off w/ a painting effect.

Hi Denise, You captured a very believable painterly look. The texture is a big plus along with the soft color and lighting...nicely handled...

Jay In PS go to FILTERS>DISTORT>RIPPLES set it up on a layer mask and a little goes a long way. I try to use the med or large.

Beautiful work, Denise. Great painterly look, the texture and colors are perfect. Personally I think I'd prefer a little more detail in the rose; not a lot, just a little bit.

Nice panting job, Denise! You did great things with that texture.
Like Christopher, I think I'd like it even more if there was just a bit more detail. :)

Denise, The textured painted effect has turned out really well. I understand your workflow, but would be interested in your camera settings for this shot.

    Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
Stuart, I don't have the exif date right here but it was probably 1/8 sec or less.
I do have the image before the paint job w/ more detail-but I do prefer this one. I may post the other one in a couple of days.:)
