Certainly not an artistic creation but kinda neat as I typically can't get close to these birds.

Image created in Kennebunk Maine this past weekend.

    Nikon D300s, 600VR, TC14EII, ISO 640, f7.1, 1/1000, NearUniWB, CW metering, +.3 EV applied.

Am surprised this hasn't received a single comment so far. Slow day at BPN, I think.

This is such a wonderful shot. Terrific IQ...whites and blacks look great...perfect HA and loved the choppy water. Thx for sharing...a hard species to nail.

Nice looking image Jim, I like the pose with the raised wings and the sharp details.:)

    Jim:

I like the details showing in the darker areas, water drops, wing position, interesting multi colored bill and eye makeup.

For my tastes, the image is a bit bright, and I might try pulling down the midtones a bit, and run a bit more recovery on the whites to see if you can get a bit of detail in the eye patch. I suspect there is not a lot of detail there even in person!

Thanks for sharing a bird I don't know!

    Cheers

    Randy
