    Default Longwood Rose Zoom Swirl

Took this yesterdays at Longwood Gardens at my workshop with Denise. Planets must have been out of alignment because Denise was talking f22 and I was doing zoom-blurs!!! The technique is the same I used on the Christmas lights I posted in F&F.....holding my 17-40 lens by the zoom ring......starting at 40mm and turning the camera body to zoom out creating this effect. Entire effect is in camera w/ normal PP'ing. ISO 200 at f22 for 0.5 sec. HH. Rotated CCW from horizontal.

Roman, This looks better than it did on the back of your camera. The color of the rose is super and the BG compliments it nicely. The best part of the day was when James Tong yelled out "I got one" when he was trying these blurs. He actually got quite a few good ones. It was a fun day!!:)

Hi Roman, a wonderful blur. Love the placement of the blossom in the comp.

Like the blur a lot and really like the pink flower on a strong green/black BG. thinking maybe the ROT placement may look nice as well, if there is enough room.

Great effect on this one, Roman! The flower looks good but I think my favorite part of this is the radiating swirling green foliage. There's a hole or black spot on the UR side of the flower that I would clone over but the rest of it looks great as is.

Makes me want to give it a whirl.:p
Great in camera combo of green linear swirl and well centered soft flower blur. :)

Beautiful image blur, Roman. I like the original comp with the greenery swirling at the bottom but I bet it would also look super as a square crop.

    Hey Roman,

Cool shot..............the green swirls are amazing. I can see the flower more centered in the frame, trim some off the bottom, for another look to it. Still cool as is...............

Very cool blur, Roman! :) I love how it swirls into the rose. The pink and orange of the rose look very lovely against the dark green of the BG, and the comp looks perfect to me. Well done!

Roman, super cool. This is a great technique that I "discovered" the other night when doing Christmas light blurs. Really like what you did with this rose!
