Taken mid afternoon on route to Serena Lodge, Mara, as we were very low on petrol and needed to tank up before heading back to our own camp.

This guy was just crossing the road ahead of us, so we parked diagonally to him hence the angle and rather 'pedestrian' POV and in frame. Sadly no chance of going lower either, but just managed to shoot about six frames before he trotted off.

Really like the vert comp and that sly look in the eyes. The color of the surrounding dirt really compliments the subject as well.

Hi Steve, like the ears perked up, and the complimentary triangular shapes of the ears and the pointy muzzle. Techs look spot one to me. Nice and sharp. Agree with others on good eye contact. Nice jackal shot. Only way to make it better would have been from lower down, as you noted
    cheers

Thanks everyone, appreciate the comments and feedback, sorry to have only got a few shots of this chap.

Hi Grant I thought you would like the ears, if I new you were back sooner I might have added that in the intro :D

    Thanks again.

tack sharp and lovely details Steve...I always enjoy these guys as they are always up to something :)

maybe a slight CW rotation to get the eartips and eyes on the same level?

Hi Morkel, thanks for the input, however the eyes are almost parallel if you take a ruler across, but sadly to base it on the ear tips it would rotate the whole subject too much, skewing the subject and not allowing enough BG.

I really appreciate the though and suggestion as it is all good input.

    Thanks

Steve, POV looks good as the stare and good DOF and sharpness on the face grab you. My preference would be not to have the diagonal line in the BG.

Totally agree Robert, however this is from tyre tracks and to remove it, would I feel, be too much & misleading, but from an aesthetic POV it really would make a difference overall and give a more pleasing image. :)

    Thanks
