    While on a pelagic birding trip in Massachusetts waters along with Axel Hildebrant and several others, dozens of Northern Gannets came quite close to the boat. This is virtually uncropped. I fixed some exposure issues around the eye, and selectively sharpened the bird (with a bit extra around the head/eye).

    Canon EOS 7D
    Canon EF 100-400 mm f4.5-5.6 L IS

    Exposure - 1/4000
    Aperture - f6.3
    Focal Length - 380 mm
    ISO - 400

    I like the eye contact and detail. i wish the light was less contrasty.

    If it was on the same trip that I was on the BBC one the Day was bright and Sunny and could not avoid harsh light midday

    Anytime you get to spend time with these beauties, is time well spent, I like the eye contact...looks like he's giving you the lookover...Nicely captured...to bad about the harsh light...TFS
