    Default Fractal Flakes

It's below zero and time come inside to warm up in front of the computer :)
This started as 7 images processed in HDR Pro. The program did a great job aligning them as they were taken hand held while drifting in a boat!
Flipped original to create reflection. Used multiple layers and masks to account for slope of shoreline. Blurred water and used pixel Bender - Oil to create ripples and blended at low opacity.
Back to Pixel bender for the "Fractal Explorer Orbit Traps" which allows the image to form the resulting Mandelbrot effect. Made copy layers and applied various blend modes to create Winter scene. Couldn't resist adding some holly berries.
Looks a bit like a Christmas ornament. :)
    All C&C welcome.

Steve, this is really impressive! I like how you came up with the design of snowflake ornament using the Mandelbrot. Terrific base image and you processed it really well. Excellent OOTB idea...

Wow! Steve, it was an awesome idea to use the fractal explorer for the shape! And the treatments to get to the snowy, winter look really fooled me. I was surprised to see the original, because I thought the snow was already there. It looks great! Love the holly berry touch.

What a clever idea....this looks great!
Thanks for sharing your work flow on this.

This would have been good for the next theme, too. :)

Thanks Indranil, Paul, Patti and Ken! Really appreciate your comments. Lots of possibilities with the free Fractal Explorer from Adobe. :)
I should have clarified it was the HDR "Efex" Pro from Nik that I used for the images.

Steve, Extremely creative and great OOTB thinking. I love the snowflake and most esp. the tips. I love the soft color tones of the reflection-nicely done!:)

Thanks Judy and denise! BTW, the originals were taken at French Portage, Ontario on Lake of the Woods. Should be completely covered with real snow now.. (-13 F) .:)
