    Setup some Alder catkins at my lower feeding station :)

    Pine Siskin (Carduelis pinus)


    D300
    Nikkor 300 f4 afs + TC-14E II
    ISO 400
    f/6.3
    1/200's
    camera -0.3 EV
    One SB-800 and two SB-600 all at -1.3 EV
    slight crop top and bottom

    I really like the comp on this shot. I also like the complimentary effect of the plant and BG coloration to the bird's color. I really don't see any issues with this at all. Well done.

    OH TIM!!!! Daayem nice! Thats making great use of Catkins! All of the colors flow together so nicely, your time spent setting this up was well worth it!

    No it is not snapped. I clipped off one small branch right at the bend though, so that may be why it looks snapped.

    I will probably come across as the lone dissenter. I would like a tad more room on top and the bird set a bit towards the right. Other than that little nit (on my part) it excels.

    These catkins are fun to photograph by themselves let alone with a siskin. Good work!

    I know what Mike is trying to say, but I feel the catkins are placed just so to balance the image perfectly. A very succesful photograph!!

    Loads of impact here Tim - a really lovely image. The cascading flower heads add so much to the composition of this nicely portrayed Sisken. Well done!!
