Beautiful bird. Sharp and a good exposure and I like your choice of an unusual composition.

Hi Ken, now this is one character I still need to get. I believe there are some at Marievale ( south of Jhb ) Good exposure, and I like the inquisitive pose and crest feathers. If this were mine, I may have brought in the LHS a little.
Ken, You are most welcome. Breaking the rules with a reason is always a good tack.

Hi Ken , wonderful exposure on this bird and I agree with you about the head feathers and the "dreamer" pose. Also very good sharpening technique. Did you manage any with the yellow feet just love the contrast ?
I must confess to having no idea they had yellow feet, probably because I have not seen them out of water.
Thanks to everybody else for your comments and suggestions, the Lake Manze channel on a boat is a paradise for bird images, I will return as soon as I am able.
