    Default Snow Geese at Sunset

I tried something a bit different for me when my wife and I were at Brigantine (Forsythe) NWR in NJ at sunset. The color was unreal in both the sky and water, and I wanted to try to capture that. This is a bit out of my comfort zone, so all comments are welcome.

Paul, I love the sunsets at Forsythe. I might crop to a pano with just the lower portion of the image if it were mine. If you want to keep the top I would suggest leveling the horizon and removing the water tower and the one bright speck. Nice to see people trying something new.:)

Paul, I like this as composed but do agree with Denise on the water tower.

Paul, you've got a beautiful sky but an even more beautiful body of water. Because everything between the two is so dark and undetailed, I'd suggest going with the pano crop of the water as the strongest comp.

I realize that you're probably attaching a lot of emotion to this image - some images remind us a powerful sight we've witnessed and that can sometimes cloud our vision to see what is best for the image. I'm not saying that's the case here - just that it happens from time to time. If this were my image I'd have presented it exactly as you have and six months from now I'd go back and try the pano crop and think, "Geez, why didn't I see that earlier on?"

It's lovely either way but I do think the water gives the strongest possible image for you here. Just my two cents...

Jules: My attempt at this is more inexperience than emotion. For me, this was a case of a stunning scene, but translating that into a really good image is where I need the help.

I am going to try this as a pano, but I think I should probably cut off the vegetation (as much as I like it) on the right. That the image from being extremely short and narrow, plus there's an empty spot in the water so I won't have to slice a bird in half. If that sounds to people like it wouldn't work, please let me know.

OK, here's my very first attempt at a pano crop. Does it work?

You cropped down just a little bit more than I would have but I do like it better than the OP.:)

Would you suggest adding a bit more of the dark above, or would you go all the way to include some of the top shining water? Thx for the feedback. I'm really flyin' kinda' blind on this one.

I would include just a tiny bit more on top. However some like tight panos. It would be a matter of taste. :)
