I photographed this Winter Wren this morning in Nahant, Massachusetts. Always been a tough species for me..

    Canon EOS 7D
    Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS

    f/6.3
    400 mm

    ISO 400

Normal levels adjustments, and noise reduction to the entire image, aside from the bird.

That bird sure looks puffed up! Eye contact is good and I like the classic wren raised tail feathers. I find the surroundings to be a little too busy, in particular the bright diagonal line on the right side of the frame. I would probably sharpen the bird a little more.

    Ryan:

Good input from Doug. The environmental clutter makes this one a challenge, to keep the attention focused on the bird. Particularly the bright diagonal bar as pointed out by Doug. I would try to tone that down a bit, or crop much tighter to eliminate as much of it as possible.

I would rather have the image a little tight in the frame than have the bar in there.

He is an attractive little guy, with a good catch light and nice colors.

    Cheers

I am in agreement with Randy and Dougs comments. I like the Birds color, pose and perch.
