I wanted to bring out the uniqueness of the birds bill and some of its personality with this closeup. I have been filming in the same spot for several visits now and I think I have earned its trust and can approach rather close. They spook very easy.

    Jay:

This image does indeed show the unique features of this species. I am at my work computer which is not reliable on fine exposure calls, but the overall exposure looks good, with perhaps a few warmish areas along the lower neck.

I would prefer if the eye and side of face weren't shadowed, but it does make him see a bit shy.

From a comp. standpoint, I wish that you had a a bit more room at the top and to the right, and feel that if it were mine, I would crop in a bit from the left, and add space top and to the right.

    A beauty for sure.

    Cheers

    Randy

Nice. I agree with Randy on the cropping. I'd probably crop right behind that one pale pink feather that extends into the darker pink. That keeps most of those killer deep pink tones on the wing coverts.

I also agree with the cropping suggestion by Randy. Otherwise I think the image looks good. I have never seen one of thee in the wild; an interesting skull cap they have.

Beautiful pose. I agree it's a bit tight. I would also tone down a few areas if it were mine. I might also run some NR in the BG. I never used my TC on my 100-400mm-you did good with the sharpness, I'll have to give it a try!!:)

Looks pretty sharp and properly exposed. Eye contact is good. I agree with suggestions on composition and NR.

You've captured the colours in the feathers very nicely. Agree with the above comments on composition.
