The last few weeks this big bull elephant (at least for Luangwa standards big, the roof behind him is about 2,5m high) hanging around our camp.
He loves the tamarind tree and has been hammering it, reaching as high as possible to bring some fresh green branches down!
The light was coming from behind him, creating a bit of a white wash in the top right corner.
This was taken with Canon 7D + Canon 15-85mm F3.5-5.6 @ 50mm 1/80 sec, ISO800
Egil, I've tried so many times to get an elephant in this position but failed. They always rise up higher than I expect! I like the behavioural nature of this image and photographically I would rather the hut wasn't there, but as a reflection of the size of the elephant it is quite useful.
Well captured behavioral shot. I also see a slight magenta cast (most evident on body and tusks) but am viewing on an uncalibrated monitor at the moment.
