Hi Sameer. I like the spread wings and eye contact. You look underexposed by a fair amount; was this shot in Av, TV, or manual mode? If shot in a priority mode, did you use exposure compensation? A dark bird against a light sky requires 1-2 stops of EC to prevent underexposure. From a composition standpoint, you might consider a vertical crop.
The embedded exif indicates aperture priority, and an EC of minus 0.5. As per Doug, you will want to be exposing ABOVE what the camera meter reads for a good exposure in this situation...although with the backlighting you had a pretty difficult situation to start with.
