    Default Snowy Holly

We haven't had snow yet this winter. This photo was taken in our front yard last February when we had big snows.

Nikon D300, Tamron 18-200 at 42mm, 1/200 sec., f5.6, ISO 160, handheld. In addition to basic adjustments, I used Topaz Adjust Detail and blurred the outer areas.

    C&C always welcome.

Anita, I love the effect on the snow. The tree looks so neat! It might be a tad tight in the frame. Now you have me hoping for snow!!

Really cool (pun intended). The Topaz really punches the detail and the softened edges keep your eyes on the holly tree. Maybe a bit tight, but very nice as presented. Snow is not far away.

Thanks for input. I didn't crop this image, so, it will have to remain tight. :-)

Beautiful scene and the detail filter really showcased the tree.

What a beautiful view you have! As has already been mentioned, I like how the blurred areas keep the focus on the tree.

I too, really like this image, and how you kept the tree the center of attention. I might try keeping the snow beneath the front branches and in front of the trunk sharper, as the branches in that area are sharp. It just seems that everything in the same depth from the camera should be the same focus or oof.

I like that there is still at least a bit of color in the trunk. Was the snow so heavy that non of the green from the holly leaves showed through?

    lovely image.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try it and see what I think. I went back and looked at the original image--yes, the snow was so heavy the green was all covered up. :-)

Ditto the comments already made. Very nice snowy scene, Anita. I like how the blurred BG keeps the focus on the tree. Well done.

Hi Anita, this almost makes me wish I lived where there is snow. :D Very pretty look, nice and soft and quiet. There is a slight blue/magenta color cast, but I find it pleasing to the eye. Well done! Stay warm.

Thanks, Kerry. The beauty of California is that the mountains are not that far away. :)
