    Default Bosque Mule Deer Buck

    EOS1DMKIV manual
600 f4L IS resting on the window

    ISO 100

All things considered I got lucky on this one. I did a double take when I looked at the settings for this shot. I had been shooting snow's in sunlight prior to seeing this young buck.

I like the pose and the mouthful adds to the image of this young buck. Branches mingling with antlers is unfortunate, but it sounds as if this was a grab shot so not much choice here.

Like the food in the mouth and the color in the background. I find the branches just a little distracting.

The branches are unfortunate. I don't know what the situation was, but if you could've backed up just a little, the branches wouldn't intersect the antlers.

Thanks. I agree. The branches take away but the difficult thing in wildlife photography is the "wild" part.

We were driving around the the north end of Bosque. Basically I pointed the 600 f4 out of my window and shot the image. When I opened the door he took off. Models seem to be high strung most of the time :p
