It's that time of year again...the lakes are partially frozen but there's still patches of light ice and liquid water on the surface. This made for some interesting compositions last night! This is an image of several trees that stand on a small island in the middle of this neighborhood lake as they are reflected down on the ice and water. Notice how the straight lines of the trees and tall grass get shattered into swirling patterns as they hit the part of the water that is still moving.

Really nice, Jules. The bottom part reminds me of agate and would stand alone as a neat abstract.
I love browns and blues together.:)

Jules, The colors are really nice. They have a metallic look to them with a really cool pattern!

Love it! I like this image of the transition from fall to winter. It tells a story. Wonderful colors, lines, patterns. I would go with increased saturation of the top part, to more closely match the bottom. I have mixed feelings about the blue on the left and the transition line going almost through the center of the image. I played around with various crops and came up with several I like a bit better. One idea is a square crop. I really ought to get out there and photograph my pond, but the temperature this morning was 26 degrees fahrenheit Brrr....

Yes, Anita said it beautifully. There is a wonderful story here in the transition. I especially like the small area of still water right at the transition that has the bright reflection with just a tad of distortion.

Good eye Jules, this is very nice. I like the story told, as mentioned above. I remember this from my (lost) youth in Indiana. Lovely patterns and color. I might want to crop from either the top or bottom, probably the top, to keep the transition away from the vertical center.
