This is a pretty large crop.

    50D, 70/200mmf4 at f4, 1/400, ISO400.

It was an overcast day so did not change or try to warm up any light.

Very nice image and I love the pose. I like that you didn't warm up the image - the more neutral tones seem more realistic for the light. Very sharp, and I like the crop. I like the starkness of the image - the bird, reflection, and no other details except a slight hint of a white and ripple across the water.

I agree - the lighting plays off the natural color of the bird and the stretching pose is lovely! Very nice HA as well.

I think the crop works very well with the featureless FG and BG. The result is ethereal and restful. The overall exposure looks good to me. Even though the front leg is shaded and the back leg isn't, I wonder if it would help to darken the back leg just a smidge - so that the two aren't quite so different.

Dave, Nice pose and wing stretch. This held up well for a large crop. I do wish the reflection were clearer but I imagine you do too:) Nicely done.

Well done on catching the pose. I think it really makes this image special. I like the clarity of the picture and the evenness of the light in the overcast conditions.
