Hello,
Took this near the Cape Fear River in North Carolina, 7D with Canon 300mm f/4 with 1.4 TC, ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/1250 at around noon, although the sun is relatively low in the sky. I cloned out some bird droppings on the wood, and performed levels, S&H, vibrance and clarity. This was also slightly cropped, and sharpened. These guys seemed to like the slight chirping noise my camera made when focusing, and kept coming closer and closer. Looking now, it seems like I have too much foreground, and maybe too much sky. I had wanted to keep the original aspect ratio though.
Thanks for looking,
Kevin
Thanks Rich. Hmmm, that's strange - when I first posted it I didn't see anything either. Then, I went back in and the image shows for me. I know I made it 800 px on the vertical and the size is under 200kb so I'm not sure what's wrong.

Kevin, your photo needed to be that small because you left the resolution up at 300. For web, it only needs to be at 72. Increase your size and decrease your resolution next time and we'll get a larger print (makes it easier to see the small details.) If you need more help doing this let me know and I'll walk you through it.
Lovely sparrow! Good head angle (HA) and pose. I do think that because the sparrow is so small the perch below him feels very heavy so I trimmed that down a bit. I don't think there's anything wrong with what you have in the opening post (OP) but thought you should see the two and compare. I also took a small bit off the top and left side since the bird is looking to the right.
Thanks Dave. What is hh? I suppose I should look through the site to see if they have common abreviations.
Julie - thanks so much for the explanation of my file size and yes, I forgot I had resolution set at 300. I agree about your cropping suggestion - now that I look at it the perch seems way too much for such a small bird. I didn't see your re-post of the pic though..
Thanks again,
Kevin
Kevin, sorry about that! Guess I got in a hurry. Here's the re-crop. And there is a set of abbreviations in the Educational section of the forums that you'll probably want to look at as we tend to write in "shorthand" around here. HH stands for "handheld."
