This little fella is hard at work bringing up some youngsters. It's been a pleasure to watch the interaction between him and one of the fledged chicks. I believe there are/is more as there is still a bit of noise coming from the extremely well hidden nest.

In hindsight I wish I had dropped the ISO to 800 and stopped down a little.

Forgot to add that I did a bit of cloning. Extended the stem of grass(above the bird) and also removed some OOF grass seeds.

    Chris:

The coloration really makes me think of the red wing black bird we have in the states.
Perky pose, well scaled perch, pleasant BG,sharp.

Agree with self analysis re: ISO.

It seems like there is a very subtle halo around the bird and upper perch, mainly visible when I move my head around a bit.

    Cheers

    Randy

Chris, nice job on the exposure here; the feather detail looks great. And the BG is quite pleasing for this kind of shot too.

Chris, this is really beautiful. Excellent pose and placement of the bir din the frame. Terrific exposure and BG. I am fine with the DOF here. If mine, I'd sharpen the head a bit more...but thats a very minor point. Magnificient shot.

    Thank you both:)

Randy, I didn't see the bright section to the right of the bird until I uploaded the photo. I'm pretty sure it is a lighter section of grass behind the bird. I think I've fixed it though.

Chris, great capture. Love the HA and smooth BG. The perch is also great.
