    Default Gatorland Babies

Well, I went to Gatorland yesterday for their after hours hours and the bird activity is quite impressive. This is one image I got with my D200 and Nikon 500 with the 1.4TC, f8, 1/1600, iso320, ec -1.0 Had a nice chat with Mike Godwin, the owner of Gatorland.

    Hello Nancy,
It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday, and I have enjoyed seeing your wonderful images before. Your shot above is a beautiful interaction between parent and young, in a very difficult background situation. I find it difficult to keep the chick in proper exposure without blowing out the highlites of the adults... especially at this age. Your photo does a great job of keeping the texture on the adult without under exposing the baby. Just as an FYI, this nest is one of the preset locations on our Gator Cam, and is labeled as Egret Nest 1 if you would like to follow the status of this nest. She started out with 3 chicks... but is now just down to the one. Here's a link to the Gator Cam: http://gatorland.com/gatorcam.php

    Until next time,

Thank you so much Mike.:) This one was especially difficult with the very dark in the BG and the very white subjects. Thanks for the link to the nest.
