    Default Cardinal comparison

These are two versions of a cardinal taken in a local park, feeding on wild grapes. IQ is not the best because of a fairly large crop. I do rather like the composition, though.

The left is the original, the right after PP to better isolate the bird (plus remove the band). I'd like some feedback on the relative merits of the two.

At the size posted, it looks like you did a good job with the leg band and leaf behind the bird.

Unfortunately, for me the shot is just way too busy. With the OOF leaves on the right, bright patches of sky, and general jumble of leaves and sticks it doesn't work.

It truly is busy, even to my taste, which runs to placing the bird in its habitat. The large OOF leaf on the lower right is a showstopper -- though I do rather like the jumble of leaves and sticks as they set up the environment in which this guy exists. But I do appreciate your feedback. Critique is a good thing!

I wouldn't mind the fall foliage if there wasn't a leaf in front of the bird's breast. I haven't forgotten about your interest in my BBC photo. Expect a PM shortly. :)
