    Canon 100-400mm 5.6L IS USM
    Focal Lth-400mm
    Manual Focus
    ISO 400
    F8 @ 1/500 sec.
    One of those perfect mornings with no clouds in the sky. Had a hard time with shadows and reeds, but I waited and got the right angle so there was no shadow on the back neck. Did some PS to the foreground to remove reeds.

    Jay, I like the image clarity and think that the details are very nice. The clean-up work you did took away the concentric circles which I like very much. I do wish you had captured the moorhen angling towards you rather than away. Your framing is good. I might take a tiny slice off the top. Nicely done.:)

    I love the reflection - this looks like it was a tough exposure to get right (white tail, black head, bright bill), and you've done wonderfully. I agree that maybe a slight crop off the top might do. Very nice details, and very sharp.

    Definitely would be stronger with him turned towards you or at least a head turn towards you. The exposure sure looks tricky and you did a bang up job on it.

    Thanks jules. Every shot I had with the head turned toward me had too many shadows. It was after 11am so the sun was too high. I guess thats why we try to shoot the early mornings.
