Would this image be a good candidate to improve using basic PS5? Where would I start? thanks, Ann

Hi Ann - nice shot of the ruddy turnstone. I think I might try cropping a bit from the right hand side and the bottom to move the bird out of the center of the frame. Overall the image looks a bit dark to me. Perhaps you could lighten things up a bit?

Ann, is this full-frame or close to it? If so then there is plenty of room to crop a pleasing comp (assuming the image is sharp and the details can hold). I do find it dark though...I'm sure 0 EC would have been OK here. I also would have waited for the turnstone to give you a better head angle as this one appears to be look away a bit. You have a very pleasing habitat setting...

Yes, this is a good candidate for basic PS tweaks:

    Cropped to taste
    Levels adjustment
    Enhanced catclight via dodge tool
    Dodged below the belly
    patched some offending light spots

    Total time 3 minutes

Nice improvements by Daniel and he's right - there's a lot of good stuff here to work with. A better HA would be a great start next time, though so wait for him to give you the evil eye!

    Default Thanks for these suggestions

Thank you all for suggestions and editing, it sure does improve the basics I need to know. I'll be getting the HA/evil eye as well.
