Default Help me organize workflow on MAC

Hi, Newbie here, but taking baby steps. I have a Mac and my question is this: " When I download my images from my 7d where should they go? EOS opens and I have a heck of a time trying to get my images where I need them.

Should a file be created and stay in DPP or IPhoto or even the Pictures library? Should I import to DPP first so I can trash the images I know I don't want? Would i then house the file in IPhoto as an "event?"

I am learning that in IPhoto preferences I can set the image to stay "original", RAW when exporting and I believe there is also a way to set up where they get exported to.
I then open the file and export the image I want to edit, so is there advantages of going to DPP and then launching PS5.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated. I have to get these files under control!!!!

WHat do folks use Breeze browser for as well? thanks, Ann

Ann, I put a bit of this in your EOS posting, but I'll add a few things. First, if you are going to work flow lots of images of similar type in your lifetime I would think about iPhoto as a final sharing repository, but not as a powerful workflow tool. Again, I for years used iPhoto, but eventually found I needed more powerful stuff. I still use it to carry around my favorite photos via iPad and iPhone, but as you get into more image editing it does not have the power you need. Plus, you want to limit the number of times you "copy" the original. Each generation loses little bits of information. When you put it in iPhoto and then go to edit it elsewhere you add another generation. Put your finals there if you want an organized set of finals to enjoy and look through. It beats the other programs for that. Like I said for all that I have over 1000 photos in mine!

Breezebrowser is a Windows only application. It's used primarily as a fast viewer to quickly sort the keepers. A popular, quick browsing Mac application is Photo Mechanic. http://www.camerabits.com/site

I have a high sarcasm rate. Deal with it.

Photo Mechanic is very popular with the MAC crowd and a good recommendation from Chris.
