I had a chance to go out to Ft. Desoto with some friends yesterday. Activity at Desoto is picking up, and it's really exciting to see the amount of birds we saw yesterday. I made this image laying in sand/water, with my Sigma 500mm on the "Shadle Slider" ;) My gear was more dirty yesterday than ever before...

    Shooting Solution
    Camera: Nikon D200
    Lens: Sigma 500 f/4.5
    Manual Exposure, 1/1250 @ f/8, ISO 400
    Full frame, manually focused

    Thanks for looking!

Comments welcomed and much appreciated :)

Nicely done. Can anyone age and ID this bird? Love the soft light and the perspective.

Very nice image Blake. Artie, the yellow legs say Least Sandpiper and the lack of spots suggest a first-year bird. That's my guess and I'm sticking with it. :)

The Shadle Slider is something that my Dad has been working on for a while (he made his first prototype about 7 years ago), allowing you to get low and slide your big lens through the mud. ;)

Another great low angle picture Blake, you inspired me to try to get some low angle pictures, so last week i went to Ft. Myers Bch and was able to get some nice pictures laying flat on my belly. I posted one of them last night.

    Real nice image Blake.
Unusual to see more space behind the bird, but as the bird is looking that way it works well.

Again, great work here Mr. Blake. As far as I'm concerned this is a flawless image.

I really like this image Blake. You worked hard for this one and it payed off. The background and super calm water send to over the top.
