Default Greetings from New Hope, Pennsylvania

My name is Kevin Giannini and I've always been interested in photography. Recently I've been exploring the world of birds and birds in flight and I am becoming hooked. Looking at some of the great images here, I realize there is much to learn. I hope to improve and eventually be able to contribute here. (I'm still exploring this site and finding where everything is). My gear of choice for birds is a Canon 7D and 300mm f/4, with a 1.4 converter. Thanks!

Welcome Kevin...don't be intimidated by the images of others. Start in the Eager to Learn forum if you aren't quite ready to jump into Avian. Remember, you can't learn and get better if you don't actually try! We're always here to help!

Welcome. You have yourself a good flight rig. Best to use it without the TC when you can. What kind of birds in flight have you been getting?

Wow, thanks for the welcomes everyone! And thank you Art! I just finished your Digital Basics pdf and picked up quite a few helpful, simplified tips for post processing.
I only just started shooting BIF this summer - around here in Eastern PA I've been mostly practicing on geese and ducks. When I go to the North Carolina coast every month or so though, I have had some luck with Black Skimmers and Pelicans (and gulls).
I do like the TC when shooting stationary birds, but yes, the focus seems faster for flying birds without the TC.
    Thanks so much!
