Two trumpeter swan signets on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River during a recent snow. We are privileged to have these magnificent birds winter in the area. Peter's lighter re-post is better. I personally like the panorama ratio but would like to see little more canvas on the top and in the bottom. But that's just me... :)

Peter and Mikko thank you for your crtique and comments. My repost implements Peter's suggestions. The additional round of sharpening helps.

The single image of these two signets does not do justice to their performance. As they floated by their movements were in perfect synchronization.

I would appreciate comments from others as to tips for shooting in the snow.

Great winter scene, with good repost by Peter. I would have loved to see them in action.

    Gary:

I suspect you know this, but the main issue with large amounts of snow in the frame is the tendency for the camera to render the snow as a neutral gray, resulting in dull, lifeless images. I usually crank in some +EC to compensate for this. I shoot Nikons too, and generally add +1/2 or more to get nice white snow.

The amount of course depends on the total amount of snow coverage and what metering pattern you are using.

    Cheers

PS: I am quite fond of our local trumpeters and have posted a few images of them over the years on the Avian board.

    Randy
