I decided to finally try my hand at an Asian style image. This is an old image I found while going through my archives. I had to erase a lot of BG branches to get a usable image out of it. I then changed the BG to white and added two of my textures to it. The calligraphy is the Chinese character for "bird."

Very Asian look with the texture, color and the bent twig. I do wish the bird's head were turned a bit more towards us but I really like this look Christopher. Well done.:)

A winner Christopher! I like the balance of the over all image with the branch, the bird and the chop/calligraphy! Good work! The only thing I see that wouldn't fit a traditional Asian piece is the texture of oil canvas. A Chinese or Asian piece would be painted on rice paper which is smooth but could have a texture-like treatment. This is really nice and simple!

Very nice! I like the simplicity. The strong line of the branch going up is especially captivating and pleasing. I also like your chop. Good for you for finding the correct character for bird.

Thanks Denise, Dan, and Anita. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the info regarding the texture, Dan. I redid it blurring the cloth texture and adding two rice paper textures that I found on the internet, "Decorative paper" and "Greenish rice paper." Does this look more authentic?

Oh Christopher...the repost is perfect! I also wish for a better HA on the bird but for this being chinese art I think his expression and head turn fit it perfectly as it conveys a real sense of just "being".

Christopher, very nice. I really like the curving branch and the quiet feel to it.

Christopher, This is such a wonderful composition with the curving branch - everything is in perfect balance - very in keeping with the theme.
