I love this theme but it is a hard one for me! Dan, I really appreciate your time in judging this week.

I tried to get the look of watercolor on brown paper but couldn't really find a good way to simulate the brush strokes. I know that Dan will say "use a brush", but I'm not that good at it! Hope you like this attempt. :)

Kerry, You knocked it out of the park! Excellent look for the theme. The chop could probably be a deeper red but we'll have to wait for Dan's call on that. Great job!!:)

Very nice Kerry! Nice bamboo even if it doesn't look brushed:). A cupla suggestions, I think that I would like to see the calligraphy parallel with the edge of the frame and maybe moved over to the left a bit. And, the chop color is too pink for me, I would make it a deeper red. The chop color seems to be a little bit of a problem this time around!

BTW, are the mods in the contest?

Kerry, Adding the bamboo was a great idea and really balances out the composition. Love the lettering - Another creative idea that works well.

Love that repost, Kerry! I thought the bird looked a litte dark in the OP but the repost takes it over the top for me. You placed everything perfectly - comp is spot on!

Love it Kerry. The egret is posed nicely and your placement of the bamboo and text is perfect. Love the tone too.
