    Hi another Red Kite image.
This one was also taken with a nikon D300s, ISO upped to 400, on aperture priority, F/5.6.
    Lens was a 300mm F/2.8 VR with a 1.7TC.

A truly stunning image. The details, wing spread, eye contact and exposure are amazing. Extremely well done.

    P.S. That D300s is a crazy-good camera--and I'm a Canon guy!

Hi Tim, great shot. Out of interest, was this by any chance shot at the red kite feeding center at Gigrin Farm in Wales? I'm hoping to visit during my christmas visit to the UK.

What a pose!! Awsome stare, I suppose you had his lunch hanging from your gear:p.

Just a bit of a bluish cast on the plumage to tame, and have you tried a version with the eyes level?

Excellent stuff, just a striking image.....

Tim, eye contact at its best. Love the detail, exposure and colours from the underwing, and pops so well from the sky.

    Hi Christopher,
We've had snow, lots of it, big reflector hence the light under the bird.

    Thanks all for comments!

    Tim,

The face contact you've made on this bird is so unique, just like the other one. A unique image like none I've seen here.

Admirable shot! Very sharp, and the kite is in a very photogenic position. The blue of the sky seems a bit unnatural, though.
