I always liked this theme probably due to the style of art presented. I found the chop and letters on the web and haven't a clue what they mean. Not too sure of the images balance but I liked the softness and the color. I used Nik, Topaz simplify and took out the backround.

Dave, it looks like a beautiful painting. I like the simplicity and the graceful lines. I'd love to know where you got the kanji. I couldn't find a site that I could download from and painted mine from scratch (and you can tell:o)

    Dave,

This is the prettiest thing I've seen in a while. Very painterly feel. Beautiful colors and lines. Great job.

Dave, This is perfectly balanced to my eye and so pretty. I like the way the leaf seems to be pointing to the characters and chop.

    Thanks for the comments folks!
Cheryl, all I did was go into Google image search and type in Chinese chop. A bunch came up and I used one. Then I typed in Chinese characters and I took some from there also. Easy and it only took me a few minutes....

Very nice Dave and the black border makes it look more Asian to me. The chop looks professional and the flower is beautiful. Well done.:)

Nice. The effect achieved on the flowers is unusual and effective. I would prefer that the green of the leaf be toned down a bit, and I'd add canvas at the bottom to make it vertical. The black frame is a nice addition.

A beautiful piece Dave! I agree that a little room at the bottom would be an improvement. As for the chop and calligraphy, I would like to see the chop smaller and place under the calligraphy, and both move to the right so they don't seem to be "dripping" off the leaf. The chop color looks good to me. Good work!

A comment on the use of chops and calligraphy. They both become a strong part of the composition and can really take the eye away from the main subject if your not careful. And, they both actually have meaning (the artist name and/or a poem or saying, etc), so we should take that into consideration when using them. I don't use any chops or calligraphy without consulting my Chinese Brush Painting instructor or someone whom I trust that can read the Asian characters. I don't want the symbols to be something inappropriate (bird instead of orchid!), embarrassing or insulting!

Hi Dave, very well done. Removing the background was a good idea as it really emphasizes the blossoms. Look like oncidiums to me, very nice.
