I visited Mr. Crazy on Thanksgiving day before my trip down to Ft. Lauderdale. As always, he loves to check out what is going on. Here is a shot of him. Enjoy!
Looking forward to my trip to Bosque.

Troy, I really like the play of sunlight and shadows here. Nicely done. Not too thrilled about the perch though :-)..but this probably was your best option.

Kaustubh, thank you. Yeah, perch is too big...only could get him to land there. He was not as coorperative as he usually is. :o

Troy, I like the perch, but the dappled contrasty light is not the best. Nice pose on the bird.

Alan, I agree. It was later part of the morning. Was hoping he would completely stayed in the shaded area. Will visit him again soon.

    Hey Troy,

Wonderful capture in challenging light. I like the way stuff is growing out of the perch. You did a good job on the dark eyes of this species as well because that is about the most you can get out of barred owl eyes. I dig the ruffled feathers and one-legged stance. Nice.

Troy, I do happen to like the contrasty light, because it suggests the owl emerging from the darkness (or receding into the shadows, if you prefer). That being said, I'd have welcomed the chance to get additional shots of the bird in more uniform light. Also, as Kaus noted, the perch is far from optimal.

I agree with you...will improve on that for sure.
