If the head was sharp this would work for me but as is the blur in the head is distracting.

It works for me, and I usually don't like blurs much. Could indeed be even better with a sharper head, but BIF at 1/50 takes some doing! I particularly like the pastel colours.

Chas, I think this works really well. I love the space around the image, and for me, there's enough movement in this image as a whole that a sharp head isn't necessary. Had it been almost sharp, but not quite, then that would be a different story but I see this a great abstract image. Like Geoff, I think the muted color palette is quite nice too.

    Cheers,

Love the colors and I am fine without a sharp head. What does bug me is the head angle. The bird is angled towards us but the head is angled away....

    Was this a vertical original?

It was good seeing you however briefly :)

    Artie,

Good to see you as well.
Yes, the image was taken vertically... with the wing overhead position in mind.

    Warm Regards,

    Hey Chas,
Loving everything about this one!!! This just looks great to me.....even with the HA:)......I am not yet a card carrying member of the HAP.....on most realistic images.....yes....blurs, not as critical for my tastes. You get from me for this one!

    Chas,
Beautiful softness and blur. I really like the sense of motion and the wings look awesome. Very well done. It was nice to finally meet you.:)

Oh man this is sweet. What makes the image for me are the primaries and swinging legs (not to mention the colours). Very cool.

Like the blurred but especially the color palette. There is also some texture in the image - not daring to call it noise - which gives it a painterly feeling. Like an oil painting on a rough canvas...

It was great meeting and talking to you last week. Best, Joerg

    On my way home...

Flight deck poor the last few days, except for long lens w/rising sun and birds flying through like we did in the past ;). Crane ponds very good in am and evening. Snow geese in field on Farm Loop gathering close to road from 8 am to 10 am when they fly out. Fire in Mist possible on very cold mornings at crane pond left side of tracks.

    Best,

    Chas

Thanks for the update Chas. It appears that the southerly winds left when I did....
