Default Bald Eagle early morning fishing

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Canon 1D Mark IV
    800/5.6L IS
    1/1600s, f/8, ISO 640
cropped, underside of wings/body lightened slightly, highlights on fish toned down

First day out with the eagles and the 800

Lighting was a bit of a challenge since the bird was flying directly into the sun but overall I'm happy with the end result. Have a few more from the series I'd like to post so comments/suggestions are welcome.

    thanks

Focus is right on and you did very well with difficult light. The fish looks a bit worn....

Please tell us where you made the image and what the situations was.

Thanks Artie. This was taken near a hydro-electric dam on the Susquehanna River in Maryland. The dam brings fish from the deeper water into easily fished shallow water and the eagles take advantage of this.

As for the fish, let's just say that it changed hands several times before this eagle got a hold of it. Very competitive birds :)

Thanks for the info Charles. Do you make the trip just for the eagles?

Yes of course, I'm an eagle addict :)

During the fall there are many beautiful landscape opportunities as well.

Thanks. That's a long ride.... If Robert O'Toole and I go back to Homer in 2012, you should consider joining us.
