This is the first time that I have seen an elk that is asleep. Usually when they are lying down their heads are up & they are alert. The BG is an administration building in Mammoth. I cropped a wee bit off the bottom.

Nice young bull, exposure and sharpness look good. They are safe there @ Mammoth so there able to sleep in peace. Would have been nice to have a little bit of snow when I was there in late Sept during the rut. Comp wise I thing moving him right (his left) in frame would strengthen the image. Hope you got images away from the buildings.

Thanks Todd. I agree with moving to the elk's left, but there was just too much stuff in the BG that would seriously detract from the image; e.g. vehicles, bushes, bike racks, etc.

He does look relaxed! Maybe just a little darker on the bottom.

A first for me as well. I like the soft light and colors.

Hi Andrew, very nice, good colour and the detail is now coming through in your images, well done for your patience.

A bit more FG would have been better, but... I think Andrew if you keep the height, but crop just before the lighter stone work on the rhs it will improve things, or even a slightly tighter crop allowing the crop to give more room on the lhs?

Thanks everyone for your comments & suggestions.
Steve, I will try your suggestions. However, I think it will result in a square crop. I do have more FG & a small amount on the LHS. WDYT of this crop?

Certainly the addition of more FG has helped Andrew, plus the slight crop. Might have gone a bit more on the rhs just to push it off centre, but certainly it's on the right route for me.
