Nice image. Like the color and the mud at the bottom.

It looks like it is enjoying the mud Ken.

    A touch central for me.

    Hi Ken,

Another image that takes me to places to which I can never afford to go. Always fun to see these huge beasts in the mud, but overall this shot is not quite in the class of the typical Ken Watkins images I've enjoyed over the years. I think its a combo of the hazy atmosphere and the narrow section of sky that found its way into the photo. Thanks, Ken.

    Ken,
Love your image but wonder if it might be better cropped as a vertical. I think the image is the ellie and not the background.
Now Zibilianja has been changed to Zarafa it's out of most peoples reach, however the area is stupendous for wildlife photography.

    Thanks for your comments.

    Danny & Austin,

I agree about the crop being awkward but I wanted to include the Hippos.

He looks relaxed. I like letting my eyes wander around this one to check out the habitat.

Ken, I like the mud, habitat, and the fact that the ele is below the horizon.

I like the surrounding habitat in this image here Ken, with a good eye level perspective.
Would wish for some more room on the left.

Nice sense of habitat shown and playing in the mud. As mentioned, a little to centered. Toning dow the highlights a bit on just the ele's side brings out more texture.

nice behavioural image Ken...I get what you were trying to do with the hippos (you know I often do that too), but in this case their shapes aren't distinct enough for me? if one of them had walked with a raised head... ;)

Thank you for all of your comments.

    Deborah & John,

Interesting to see that I am not the only one to mourn the loss of Zibilianja, even if it had no copper baths and Maisai decorations:)
