Canon 1D Mark 4 With EF 500mm f4 and 1.4 X tc
1/2500 sec, F 7.1, ISO 400
Cropped to about 75% of the original for composition.. Took this along with others this morning. I was very happy to capture the classic flap in place for a duck. They are very entertaining to observe as you photograph them.
Hi Mike. Like the wing position and the tail feathers. Head angle could be a little better. I might try a little more sharpening, and I would move the bird slightly to the right in the frame.
I like the raging water. P.S. Oldsquaw is the old name for what is now known as Long-tailed Duck (perhaps you know this, but just in case others don't)
We get these in Missouri sometimes but I've never photographed one....yet. I'm with Daniel on the raging water; very cool. There doesn't seem to be a lot of detail in the duck in this image, though. Thanks for reminding me of a unique bird that I've never seen in real life.
