    Sometimes it just isn't easy having everything perfect in a shot as sure I would of liked more eye contact. But I'm interested in opinions on this one. Does the pose captured keep your eyes interested in the shot? Comments and thoughts always appreciated thanks...:)

    I am OK with HA, truly. Love the details, BG and pose. Could not ask for a better image of this species in flight mate! :)

    Ditto that! The wing position, and slight bank makes it a winner for me. The eye is "lock-on"!
    Congrats!!

    James;

    The eye is so attractive, attention demanding, that you tend to miss the slight head angle issue. Could the angle be marginally better, yes. But still an excellent image, because of that eye, and great colors on the body and wings.

    Cheers

    The texture in the back, and fully spread wings are great. Only thing I could wish for is some clouds in the sky. Was this taken at Bolsa Chica?

    Hi Jim,

    Not to be controversial but I've never bought into the "acceptable range of head angles" paradigm, especially when great eye contact is still present as in this fantastic shot. I also find many shots with the bird flying slightly away to be awesome, as well! The range of colors on this species is so wonderful and your capture has highlighted that characteristic. The little, glowing red eye is the real winner on this one along with your usual BIF w/dorsal view expertise. Great!

    James, I like seeing the top view. Nice clear eye and sharp details.

    Pretty much perfect technically. I love the myriad of colors. Would remove the singular speck below his rear belly.
