Hi Folks;
This is a Common Raven I captured coming in for a landing on a light stand while waiting at Fry's for Gina. Mostly created in CS5 with blurring edges & manipulating bkg in Filter>render>clouds.
Comments always very welcome.

Original taken in Fry's parking lot.
Okay, I'm glad you showed the original because I couldn't figure out where the faint trace of purple was coming from around the head in the OP! Now I see...
Gus, this is very creative (and will make a great image for Halloween next year!) If it were mine, I'd convert it to black and white to get rid of the color halo and then maybe lighten the feet just a bit so they are better seen.
Neat idea to use render/clouds for this...I rarely use that but you've given me some new ideas...
Hi Jules;
Thanks for looking and your comments.
Is this what you had in mind?
For a real Halloween scene I created, go here (Turn on speakers) you'll need Java which is worthwhile, I have about 30 Java scenes alone. Look here for instructions and latest.
Keep up the good work, your turn to play when your crew gets back

Very dark, foreboding image, Gus. Great pose and I like the sky texture. Personally I don't like the soft look of the raven, I think it would look better with sharper edges. I would also increase the contrast a bit and darken the raven some more.
Gus, I really like this one. The mood is striking. I do see a straight line on the left hand side in the BG that I might smooth over if it were mine. Nice work!
Hi Gus, I like the gothic tones of the first post. I agree that I would like to see the bird sharper and without the color. I would use hue/saturation
I would fix the crease on the left side where you added canvas. Good concept and only needs a little bit of work to make it into a nice poster.

Hi Folks;
I agree with everyones comments and kind critiques 100%. You guys are great and just what I need. Bit rushed on this as between 2 forums here & 3 posts plus a lot of answers in the Bird Forum daily where some folks get 45 replies to every post. Also working on getting a couple of days ahead at this forum which gets my creative juices flowing, it's sometimes a slugfest for this oldie, 86 going on 16
Anyway . . . here's another version to ponder. :):)
Play around, a picture is worth a 1000 words. Your ideas all make sense to me :cool:
Keep smiling
Gus aka MP
That last pose has strength and really shows the bird off while the post before it puts the bird as part of the mood - I like 'em both!
Well folks; Time to say "Farewell" on Mr Raven with a Sepia version . . . Gus
Totally fascinating the different moods one can bring out with just a single image. Great viewing!
