Another one from my archives! The original had a tide line intersecting with the back pelicans. Applied multiple filters in different layers - Topaz adjust, DAP Camille, Fract Glow 100. Adjusted layer opacity for each to get the final effect. Hope you like it...

ps. I am also posting the fractal version; it would be good to know which one you prefer. Thanks for looking...

I like both, Indranil but I really love the top post! Wow...it's just smoothed out enough that my mind has to really think about it but it still instantly knows what it is. Was this over ice? I love the thin line of reflection on the bottom where I'm guessing the ice broke through. Very cool image...and a nice comp. I can't get over how you managed to get complete separation between every one of those birds! Way to go!

Beautiful work, Indranil. I like both, but the top one definitely takes the cake for me! I can just imagine a peaceful, misty morning with the pelicans silently flying in. Excellent composition, great job getting the separation between each bird. I like the soft reflections and the bit of texture to the BG. Well done!

Indranil, They are both very nice but I do like the fract one just a bit more. The mood and lighting is terrific!

Indranil, I like both versions also. I think the ultimate would be a blend of both. Want to give it a go?

Hi Julie, thanks. This is actually over water taken early in the morning with relatively calm water and reflection. I probably took 6-8 shots with those approaching pelicans. As their heights were dropping, I had only one shot where I got the separation. Here is original image. I removed a tideline cutting across the top pelican. In the past two years, I have tried to wait out many times to get a similar photo opportunity but could never get them in a similar formation!

Hi Kerry, the OP is a blend of four layers including the fract version. If you notice carefully, you will see the diffusion on the pelicans. I reduced the opacity just as a hint rather than overpowering it.

What a great capture............I could shot birds forever and may not get a formation like that. Well done...........although I prefer the mood of the frac, any way you present this is likely to work, and, work well!

The frac version really grabs my attention. As I write this I am watching a group of pelicans on the Arkansas River. They make beautiful subjects.
