    Nice set up. I am wondering what it would like like tilted over a bit.

    Nice use of flash as well.

    I think that with the use of flash you may have been able to get a bit more dof.
    Tripod, IS and flash perhaps may have been ok at f8 and 1/160. It might be worth a try unless you have already.

    Love the bird, the stem and the BG - the OOF flower is leaving me wanting more. As is, I'd seriously consider cloning out the flower head and letting the stalk end where it does so the viewer's attention doesn't go from the bird to the OOF flower and then stay there.

    Very nice pose and HA on the bird...well exposed and a complimentary BG always helps. That darn flower head...

    Joel, Beautiful BG and I like your idea of a set up. I think for this to work the sunflower and the birds breast would need to be sharp. I think you could have stopped down more.

    Thanks Denise,

    I agree, need more DOF....The light was not great and I set up near minimum focusing distance....

    so, I will change tactics next time.
