    Brown Falcon (Falco berigora)

This female Brown Falcon has been dive bombing my car every time I drive down a certain track in the WTP just west of Melbourne. I've had a look but I can't find any sort of nest in the area so I don't know whats going on but I have'nt been swooped by this species before.
Can definitely understand why they are often called "cackling hawks" as this one was cackling away.

Love the look and pose here mate and yes, falcons are very protective of territory especially during nesting. I just finished reading an article by Stephen Debus on a Black Falcon nesting near Armidale, NSW and the behavior is just that! So I'd look for the nest, but be careful as they may get edgy and even desert! :( If you want, I can e-mail you the article.

    Hi Paul,

Great image, with sharp eyes and a super angry- raptor expression. I have been in that situation occasionally, with N.goshawks near the nest, and I was shaking so much trying to stop being scalped that I never got any sharp pictures. So well done.
