This image came from the local Japanese botanical gardens. I forgot to record the variety of tree. PP included NIK low-key, tonal balancing and a pinch of glow...........

This is beautiful, Jay. I like the texture but it is the lighting that makes this so much more interesting. TFS.

Agree with Anita - wonderful nooks and crannies for the eye to explore in this tree. I love the glow of light.

    Very cool, Jay!
My eye goes right to the glowing red area but then starts to wander, enjoying all those great textures and patterns. Well spotted and a great job of editing. :)

Which Nik software did you use to get that pinch of glow?

    Anita,

The package is NIK Color Effects Pro. I use it in the Nikon NX2 software, and, I know its available as a plug-in to PS. I started with the NIK effect called "Low Key", which as you can imagine is opposite to "high-Key", and has a glow enhancer slider, then I did NIK's "foliage enhancer" which pumps the yellows and greens. After some tonal balancing, I used NIK's Glamor Glow (10% opacity), for the pinch of glow to rest of the colors..........................So, I guess all three effects contributed, but Glamor Glow mostly.
Thanks for the kind words, Hope this helps, Jay

Thanks! It is available for Elements 7, so I may do the 15 day trial. I'm contrary and tend to avoid spending money, but have seen some lovely effects using this software.

Hi Jay, I love the effect you have created with the post processing. To me it somewhat looks like a submerged log illuminated by the sun. Great eye!

I came late to the party but this is stunning, Jay! I'll have to remember to try something like this some time. I always knew bark had some great interesting patterns to it but you've really brought out the best in it!

Jay: A question: What software contains the "Pinch of Glow" filter?

    Thanks!
