    Default Clover

Just an ordinary clover flower that I photographed awhile back and texturized using three of my textures and "Latte" from Shadowhouse Creations. I also added a blur overlay. Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing. The textures bring out the beauty of the flowers. Love the composition. The soft colors are perfect. Excellent.

Agree with all that has been said. This is just beautiful. I really like the composition with the budding flower in the background. Colors are lovely.

Christopher, Is the "blur overlay" you mention similar to the "Orton Effect" tutorials? It doesn't seem to me as if this has that effect.

Patti, the blur overlay technique I use is similar to the Orton effect, though it's more subtle and doesn't cause a contrast boost like the Orton effect does. What I do is I duplicate the image layer and then apply Gaussian blur, usually with a radius of about 20-30px, and then lower the opacity of the layer till I like how it looks(for this image I set the opacity to 35%).

    Nice image and application, Christopher.

Only comment is that it might be interesting if there were a third flower. But nice as is.

You know ... three "bud" clover! :o Also things in three composition wise.

Thanks Christopher. That explains why you don't have the glowy, contrasty look that I associate with Orton, but the nice softness of the blur. Cool! I appreciate the explanation. So much to learn... :) and such fun.

I've posted similar clover photos before, Cheryl, but not this particular one. Thanks for commenting!
