Another from the recent trip to Costa Rica. Reviewing the images of these guys I find that these guys are exceedingly difficult to capture well and that the light needs to fall on them in just the right way to bring out the colors. I hope I succeeded here.

This was shot at Bosque de Paz with Greg Basco.

Details: Shutter speed: 1/200 sec, Aperture: 16, Exposure mode: Manual, Flash: External E-TTL, Metering mode: Evaluative, Drive mode: Single frame shooting, ISO: 250, Lens: EF500mm f/4L IS USM.

    Very nice and healthy violet!

Love that heliconia and the small yellow flower coming out. Nice pose on bird but I would have prefered a better profile.
    What camera?

Agree with Juan on the profile of bird. Love the plant but is a little overpowering for me.

Christoph, I agree with Juan Carlos that the bird looks to have been slightly off-plane here. I thought you had one or two with a better profile, in which case I think the lighting would better show off the bird's plumage.

    Cheers,

I like the composition a lot, the color are also nice except the bird, in my monitor it looks underexposed (I don't know the bird), I also think that the head angle its not the best. But its a great shot and not easy do do...
