Crisp image of a meditating heron! Angle, exposure, composition look good to me. The Indian looks a lot like "our" Chinese pond heron. I was wondering, why were you hand-holding your heavy camera for this shot? Was there a special reason?

    Very sharp eyes RAM.
    Isn't it Yellow bittern?

Sharp detailed image that shows the habitat well. I would be tempted to remove the two OOF grasses at the head and neck area if it was mine. A good image as presented!

Agree with Jim regarding the grasses at the head area. Otherwise a fine image Ram. like the earthy tones very much and the bird compliments the environment very nicely. :)

Just lovely! I wouldn't change anything. Love the ambient and the pose of the bird, looks so focused!

When people who know a bit about birds come to India, they often think they are seeing bitterns ... :) ... the exceedingly common Pond Heron though is not a bittern although related.
The Chinese Pond Heron is also found in India but is not common; more of a bird to be seen in the North East, if at all.
These birds are quite easy to photograph in the right place; I wonder about the hand held 600mm as a tripod would surely have given a much sharper shot.
    Regards
    Amano
