A killdeer close-up in typical Mississippi River habitat - cluttered and muddy - but they always seem happy to be there, mud-covered bill and all. Because I was shooting this fella at point blank range with a super tele, I used one of Artie's tips to tighten the aperture in order to get a deeper focal plane across the whole bird....not just the eyes. Artie can be pretty smart.....sometimes.:) Whites are getting warmish on this one in places but nothing that bothered me. Also, the bird is pretty big in the frame but that is the comp I was looking for. Thanks.
